How we raise our pups

We are a small breeder of standard size goldendoodles located in north Texas. Our pups are raised in our home and receive hours of one on one time. Unlike most breeders we only have 1-2 litters a year and we are very intentional with how we raise our pups. They go through a puppy enrichment program starting at 3 days old. This enrichment program continues until they go home to their forever families.

Puppy enrichment program

Early neurological stimulation or ENS begins at 3 days old and continues until they are two weeks old. We put the dogs in different positions, on different surfaces, and expose them to different temperatures. This helps the pups both emotionally and physically. After two weeks we begin introducing them to different sounds. We make lots of noise with doors, pans, instruments, we play traffic sounds, sirens, crowd noises, babies crying, lawn mowers, and so much more. By introducing the pups to all of the new sounds they will learn to be more confident and less afraid. The pups also get “music time” every day, where we play soothing classical music. At 5 weeks we begin the training listed below.

Training

By the time the pups go home we will have started working on:

*Crate training

*Potty training

*Sitting to greet you/ask for attention instead of jumping on you

*leash training

*De-sensitization to loud noises

*Basic commands such as “sit” and “come”

When you come to pickup your puppy we will show you everything your pup has learned and we will go over how to continue the training at home. Just because we begin teaching these concepts to each puppy, doesn’t mean that each puppy will have it down perfectly before they go home. Instead it should be looked at as a foundation on which to build. It is up to you to continue what they have been taught. Some puppies will need more training than others once they are home.

At 5 weeks we begin training them to sit instead of jumping to greet you or to ask for attention. The puppies in this video had only been working on this concept for one week. We continue this training until they go home. When you come to pick up your puppy we teach you how to continue the training at home.
